Last updated: August 6, 2026

Health.md helps you move and work with health data. These terms explain the license, the limits of the product, and the responsibilities that come with directing sensitive data to your files, computers, services, and agents.

01 Use it lawfully

Use Health.md only with data, devices, accounts, and destinations you are authorized to access.

02 You control the output

You choose where sensitive exports and direct results go and how they are protected.

03 Not medical advice

Health.md reports and moves data. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional care.

1. Agreement and scope

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Cody Bontecou, who operates Health.md under the isolated.tech name (“Health.md,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using a covered Product, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Products.

“Products” means the Health.md consumer apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Android; bundled helpers; command-line and MCP tools where made available; healthmd.app and its documentation; direct protocols; and first-party services that support those surfaces. A feature can be available on only certain platforms, versions, regions, devices, or release channels.

App-store terms also apply to copies distributed through Apple or Google. If you use a Product for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes it.

The short version: Health.md gives you tools to export and query health data, but you remain responsible for your permissions, destinations, security, and use of the results.

The Products are not medical devices, emergency services, or a promise that every source record, background task, provider, operating system, or third-party destination will always be available.

2. Eligibility and authority

You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms. If the law where you live requires a parent or guardian to approve your use, that person must review and accept these Terms for you.

You may use Health.md only with health data, devices, accounts, computers, provider connections, API endpoints, and other destinations that you own, control, or are authorized to use. Do not access or process another person's health data without valid authority and any legally required consent.

3. License

Health.md software is licensed, not sold. The Apple app, Android app, CLI, and shared core are distributed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3.0 only (AGPL-3.0-only). The website source is distributed under the MIT License. Third-party code and assets retain their own licenses.

Those software licenses—not this section—govern copying, modification, redistribution, and hosting of the licensed source and binaries. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access Health.md-operated services and use store entitlements, trademarks, artwork, and other materials that are not covered by a separate license, solely for lawful personal or internal purposes.

You may use your exports and direct results in your own files, scripts, automations, agent workflows, and communications with people or services you choose, including a healthcare professional. Nothing in these Terms restricts rights granted by the AGPL, MIT License, another applicable license, or rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use a Product or its output unlawfully, deceptively, or to violate another person's privacy, confidentiality, intellectual-property, or other rights;
  • access health data, provider accounts, paired devices, files, or endpoints without authorization;
  • circumvent purchase controls, permissions, pairing, authentication, rate limits, safety limits, or other technical protections;
  • attack, overload, disrupt, probe, or introduce malicious code into a Product or supporting service;
  • extract or misuse non-public credentials, signing material, service secrets, or protected assets; this does not restrict rights granted by an applicable software license or law;
  • remove required copyright, trademark, attribution, or license notices, or falsely suggest that Health.md endorses your product, analysis, medical conclusion, or service;
  • use the Products as the sole system for emergency response, regulated clinical recordkeeping, or any use for which they were not designed.

You are responsible for the conduct of anyone who uses the Products through your devices, paired credentials, local processes, or organizational systems.

5. What Health.md does

Depending on platform and availability, Health.md can:

  • read authorized Apple HealthKit, WorkoutKit, Android Health Connect, and Health Connect medical-record data;
  • export selected data as Markdown, Obsidian, CSV, JSON, FHIR/provider-native, and other documented formats;
  • write to a chosen local or cloud-backed folder, vault, document provider, paired Mac or CLI, or user-configured API endpoint;
  • run manual, scheduled, Shortcut, Android automation, direct, and resumable export workflows subject to platform limits;
  • answer scoped typed queries and return factual values, provenance, coverage, missingness, evidence, or charts through supported CLI and MCP clients;
  • connect to supported health providers after authorization and pass provider records to the device;
  • use limited non-health infrastructure for scheduling, purchases, product analytics, campaign attribution, provider authorization, website delivery, and support as described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not collect or store your health data on Health.md servers. Health data can still leave your device when you choose a synced folder, paired client, provider, agent or model service, API endpoint, or another destination. That destination controls its copy.

6. Availability, limits, and preview features

Features differ by operating system, device, store version, source API, permission, region, connected provider, and release channel. Documentation can describe a preview, source-build, beta, or compatibility path that is not packaged or supported on every platform. “Where available” does not promise release, continued availability, or feature parity.

HealthKit and Health Connect permissions can make denied or unavailable data appear empty. Device locking, background-execution rules, network conditions, API limits, file-provider behavior, pairing state, available storage, and third-party outages can delay, limit, or prevent work.

Direct iPhone requests require a reachable, compatible, explicitly paired source and may require Health.md to be open, foregrounded, or unlocked. Durable jobs may remain on your devices after a timeout or disconnect until they complete, are resumed, canceled, cleaned up, or expire. You must inspect status, coverage, missing intervals, warnings, and partial-result diagnostics before treating output as complete.

We may change, suspend, discontinue, or impose reasonable limits on any Product or feature. We do not promise backward compatibility, indefinite maintenance, or that a preview will become generally available.

7. Health and medical disclaimer

Health.md is a data-portability and factual-query tool. It is not a medical device, healthcare provider, diagnostic service, treatment, or emergency service.

  • Health.md does not diagnose, recommend treatment, infer causation, or determine whether a result is healthy, harmful, better, or worse.
  • Values and records can be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, changed, mislabeled, unavailable, or inaccurate at the source or destination.
  • Charts, summaries, evidence, and exported files do not replace the original record or advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
  • You may share data with a clinician, but the clinician—not Health.md—is responsible for any medical interpretation or decision.
  • Results produced by an AI tool or model provider are supplied by that third party and are not medical advice from Health.md.

Do not rely on a Product for an emergency or time-sensitive medical decision. Contact local emergency services or a qualified professional. Unless we separately agree in writing, the consumer Products are not offered under a HIPAA business associate agreement and are not a substitute for an electronic health-record system.

8. Data, privacy, and ownership

Our Privacy Policy explains how Health.md handles health data, first-party product analytics, campaign attribution, scheduling metadata, provider authorization, purchase information, website requests, and support data. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

As between you and Health.md, you retain your rights in the health data and other content you direct the Products to process. You instruct Health.md to access, transform, transmit, and write that data only as needed to perform the feature you request. This does not transfer ownership of your health data to us.

Health.md retains its rights in the Health.md name and trademarks, operated services, store listings and entitlements, and content or assets not released under a separate license. Rights in Health.md software and source code are governed by the AGPL-3.0-only, MIT, third-party, or other license that applies to the relevant component. Your ownership of your data does not give you ownership of Health.md branding or services.

9. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Permissions and authority: selecting only data and accounts you may lawfully access, process, and disclose;
  • Device security: using passcodes, updates, disk encryption, protected credential stores, and trusted networks where appropriate;
  • Destinations: evaluating the security, authorization, logging, retention, deletion, backup, and access controls of folders, providers, endpoints, AI/model services, and paired computers;
  • Sensitive output: protecting files and results that can contain exact timestamps, routes and locations, medications, mental-wellbeing entries, ECG values, clinical/FHIR content, provenance, documents, or attachments;
  • Direct access: approving only trusted peers, protecting pairing credentials, and never exposing a local loopback API or its port to another machine;
  • Completeness: reviewing receipts, manifests, coverage, source limitations, warnings, and partial results instead of treating missing data as zero;
  • Backups and deletion: maintaining any backups you need and deleting copies from each destination under its controls;
  • Compliance: meeting laws and professional, employment, research, clinical, or organizational requirements that apply to your workflow.

Do not place health records, exports, credentials, or sensitive direct results in ordinary support email, public issues, chat transcripts, CI logs, shell traces, or other locations that are not appropriate for health data.

10. Free use, Full Access, and refunds

The Products may allow a limited number of successful export actions at no charge. The current consumer offer is 10 free exports. A successful manual, scheduled, Shortcut, or direct action may count against the same allowance as shown in the Product, regardless of how many dates or files it contains. Failed work and retries can be treated differently under the documented quota rules.

Where offered, Full Access is a one-time in-app purchase that removes the export limit for supported features. It is not a subscription and does not renew. Apple platforms may offer Individual Lifetime, Family Lifetime, or an upgrade between them; other stores can offer their own supported one-time product. The store purchase sheet controls the displayed product, price, currency, tax, account, and Family Sharing eligibility.

A “lifetime” or permanent entitlement means the purchased license does not expire on a recurring billing schedule. It does not guarantee that every feature, operating system, device, provider, or Product will remain available or supported forever. We may change future pricing or offers without changing a completed purchase except as allowed by the store terms and law.

Purchases, restores, billing, and refunds are handled by the store where you bought Full Access. We do not receive full card details and ordinarily cannot issue a store refund directly. For Apple purchases, use Report a Problem; for Google Play purchases, use Google's applicable refund flow. Refund eligibility is determined by the store and applicable law.

11. Third-party services and destinations

The Products depend on or can connect to services operated by others, including Apple, Google, HealthKit, Health Connect, app stores, APNs, file and sync providers, Obsidian, health providers, OAuth services, API endpoints, local networks, Cloudflare, website hosts, AI/model providers, agent hosts, and tools you configure.

Third-party terms, licenses, privacy practices, account rules, usage limits, fees, availability, and security controls apply to their services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their acts, omissions, output, outages, policy changes, or handling of data after you direct it to them.

Brand names and logos belong to their owners. Reference to a third party does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, compatibility, or continued support.

12. Intellectual property, open source, and feedback

The Health.md name, logos, trademarks, operated services, store materials, and original content or assets not released under another license are owned by Health.md or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

The Health.md Apple app, Android app, CLI, and shared core are AGPL-3.0-only, and the website source is MIT-licensed. Third-party dependencies and bundled assets retain their own terms. The applicable license governs your use, copying, modification, distribution, and—where addressed by that license—network hosting. Nothing in these Terms narrows those license rights.

If you voluntarily send feedback or suggestions, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use them to improve or develop products without an obligation to compensate or credit you. Do not include health data, credentials, confidential information, or content you are not authorized to share.

13. Updates, suspension, and termination

We may provide updates to fix bugs, improve performance, change features, meet platform or legal requirements, or address security issues. Updates can change system requirements and may require acceptance of revised terms. We are not obligated to provide updates indefinitely.

You may stop using a Product at any time and uninstall or delete your local copies. Uninstalling does not delete exports, paired-computer state, provider copies, API deliveries, support messages, or other data already placed elsewhere.

We may suspend access to a Health.md-operated supporting service or revoke a store entitlement to the extent permitted by the store and law if you materially breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, or misuse the Products. Termination of rights under an open-source license is governed only by that license. Where reasonable, we will limit action to the affected Product or service.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, payment, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, disputes, and general terms—will survive.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE PRODUCTS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” HEALTH.MD AND ITS LICENSORS DISCLAIM EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.

We do not warrant that a Product will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, compatible, complete, or accurate; that data will be available, preserved, or exported successfully; or that a third-party source, destination, provider, model, store, or platform will perform as expected.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In that case, exclusions apply only to the extent allowed, and any required warranty is limited to the shortest period and minimum scope permitted by law.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HEALTH.MD, ITS OPERATOR, AFFILIATES, AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, DATA, USE, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE PRODUCTS.

This includes loss, corruption, disclosure, or misdirection of data; unavailable or incomplete health records; errors in exports or queries; decisions based on output; third-party services; failed schedules, background tasks, transfers, pairing, purchases, or integrations; and unauthorized access caused by your device, credentials, destination, or configuration.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO A PRODUCT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THAT PRODUCT.

These limits do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, such as liability for fraud or willful misconduct, or for death or personal injury where applicable law prohibits exclusion. Some jurisdictions provide additional rights, so some limits may not apply to you.

16. Indemnity and export controls

To the extent permitted by law, if you use the Products on behalf of an organization, you will defend and indemnify Health.md and its operator against third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs arising from that organization's unlawful use, unauthorized processing or disclosure of another person's data, violation of these Terms, or violation of third-party rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by Health.md's own breach or misconduct.

You must comply with applicable export-control, sanctions, and re-export laws. You may not use, export, or provide a Product where prohibited by law. You represent that you are not prohibited from receiving the Products under applicable sanctions or export restrictions.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by applicable law, without applying conflict-of-law rules that would defeat mandatory protections. Nothing in these Terms removes consumer rights or remedies that cannot be waived under the law where you live.

Before starting formal proceedings, we ask that you contact [email protected] and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally. Either party may bring a claim in a court or forum that has lawful jurisdiction. These Terms do not require arbitration unless you and Health.md separately agree to it where lawful.

18. General legal terms

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, applicable software licenses and store terms, and any additional terms presented for a specific Product form the entire agreement about your use of the Products and replace prior discussions on that subject.

If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, merger, acquisition, or transfer of the Products, subject to applicable law.

Section headings are for convenience. “Including” means “including without limitation.” Electronic notices and acceptance have the same effect as paper communications where permitted.

19. App-store-specific terms

Apple-distributed copies

  • These Terms are between you and Health.md, not Apple. Health.md, not Apple, is responsible for the App and its content.
  • For the store-distributed copy, your use is subject to Apple's Usage Rules, including eligible Family Sharing or volume-purchase use. Separate rights in AGPL-licensed software remain governed by the AGPL.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If an applicable warranty is not met, you may notify Apple for any refund of the purchase price available under Apple's rules; to the maximum extent permitted, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • Health.md, not Apple, is responsible for addressing product-liability, legal-compliance, consumer-protection, and intellectual-property claims concerning the App, subject to these Terms.
  • You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them for Apple-distributed copies.

Google Play-distributed copies

These Terms are between you and Health.md, not Google. Google is not responsible for the App or support under these Terms. Your use is also subject to Google Play's applicable terms, policies, and account rules; if a mandatory Google Play term conflicts with these Terms, that mandatory term controls for the Google-distributed copy.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Products, law, or our practices change. We will post the revised Terms and update the date above. If a change materially affects your rights or use, we may also provide notice in a Product, release notes, or another reasonable channel. Changes apply prospectively from their effective date; continued use after that date means you accept the revised Terms where permitted by law.
